New series launching in Be x Boy magazine
The official website of Libre Publishing's Be x Boy magazine revealed last week that manga creators Takako Shimura and Fumiko Fumi will both launch their own respective new manga series in the magazine's June issue on May 6. Fumi's new manga is titled Josō Danshi to Menhera Oji-san (The Crossdressing Young Man and the Uncle With Mental Illness). Libre Publishing has not yet revealed the title to Shimura's new manga.
Josō Danshi to Menhera Oji-san is teased with the text, "You're a sweet first-class lady, but it turns out, on social media, you're a boy dressing as a girl!?"
Shimura's manga is teased with the text, "No matter how much I worry, an answer will set it in stone. But I love you."
Shimura is best known for her Wandering Son and Aoi Hana manga, both of which have inspired television anime series adaptations in 2011 and 2009 respectively. She also drew the original character designs for the Aldnoah.Zero anime, as well as the original character designs for Battery the Animation, the upcoming television anime adaptation of Atsuko Asano's Battery baseball novels. Fantagraphics is releasing volumes of her Wandering Son manga in North America.
Fumi most recently concluded her Kannushi-san to Boku no Kanojo manga, which ran in Shueisha's Youmagazine in 2014, and with a single compiled book volume release in January 2015. She has published such manga as Fundari Kettari, Onna no Ana, and Bokura no Hentai. Her Koi ni Tsukimono and Onna no Ana manga were adapted into live-action films in 2015.
