Accomplished singer and voice actress Megumi Hayashibara celebrated her 49th birthday on March 30. Hayashibara wrote on her blog on Tuesday that she received a special gift in the mail. Slayers light novel illustrator Rui Araizumi sent her a doodle of her character Lina Inverse and a portrait to wish her a happy birthday.
Starting in 1986, Hayashibara has voiced fan-favorite characters like Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, female Ranma in Ranma 1/2, Hello Kitty in her television incarnations, Lina Inverse in The Slayers, Lime in Saber Marionette J, Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion, the list goes on.
She's also had more than her share of musical hits with her albums, many charting in the Top 10. Most recently she sang the opening theme "Usurahi Shinjū" for the drama Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū.
