Yo-kai Watch Stays at #2 Below Star Wars, Kizumonogatari Drops to #6

Live-action Orange maintains #4 spot

Eiga Yo-kai Watch: Enma Daioh to Itsutsu no Monogatari da Nyan!, the second film in the Yo-kai Watch franchise, stayed at #2 in ticket sales in its fifth weekend at the Japanese box office. It sold 137,368 tickets for 159,688,300 yen (about US$1.36 million) in 358 theaters during the January 16-17 weekend. The film has grossed over 5 billion yen (US$43 million) since opening five weekends ago.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens topped the Japanese box office for the third straight weekend. It sold 236,219 tickets in 368 theaters for 387,265,900 yen (US$3.30 million). It has earned over 9 billion yen (US$76.62 million) as of January 17, and is poised to top 10 billion yen (US$85 million) by mid-January.
The live-action film of Ichigo Takano's Orange manga held its #4 spot in its sixth weekend in 302 theaters. The film has earned a cumulative 2.8 billion yen (US$24 million), and is poised to top 3 billion yen (US$26 million).
Kizumonogatari I: Tekketsu-hen, the first film in the trilogy adapting NisiOisin's light novel of the same name, fell from #3 to #6 in its second weekend in 108 theaters.
Eiga Chibi Maruko-chan: Italia kara Kita Shōnen, the first new anime film for Momoko Sakura's Chibi Maruko-chan manga in 23 years, also dropped from #10 off the chart in its fourth weekend.
