AKB48's AKB49 Manga Ends in Weekly Shonen Magazine

Manga following boy who crossdresses, joins idol group began in 2010

This year's eighth issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine published the final chapter of Reiji Miyashima and Motoazabu Factory's AKB49 ~Renai Kinshi Jōrei~ (AKB49 ~Love Ban Ordinance~) manga on Wednesday.
Miyashima began drawing the series in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2010, and Kodansha shipped the 28th compiled volume on Friday.
Motoazabu Factory's story follows a male high school student who dresses as a girl to help his classmate, a girl he has a crush on, pass an audition for the popular idol group AKB48. The result is that they both pass the audition, and he must join the group without revealing his true identity. Real-life members of the group appear in the manga. Hisashi Takahashi collaborated on the story.
The manga inspired a stage musical adaptation starring members of SKE48, AKB48, HKT48, and NMB48 in 2014.
