The 48th volume of Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko Magazine is revealing on Wednesday that the television anime of author Shibai Kineko and illustrator Hisasi's Netoge no Yome wa Onna no Ko ja nai to Omotta? (And you thought there is Never a girl online?) light novels will premiere on the Tokyo MX channel at 11:30 p.m. on April 7. It will also premiere on the Sun TV and BS11 channels on April 7 at 26:00 and 24:30, respectively (effectively, on April 8 at 2:00 a.m. and 12:30 a.m.)
The anime's main cast includes:
- Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Durarara!!'s Mikado Ryūgamine) as Hideki Nishimura / Lucian
- Rina Hidaka (Sword Art Online's Silica) as Ako Tamaki / Ako
- Inori Minase (School-Live!'s Yuki Takeya) as Akane Segawa / Schwein
- M.A.O (Overlord's Enri Emmot) as Kyō Goshōin / Apricot
- Hitomi Ohwada (Shirobako's Midori Imai) as Nanako Akiyama/Sette
- Yoshino Nanjou (Love Live!'s Eli Ayase) as Yui Saitō/Nekohime
Shinsuke Yanagi (Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS, Momo Kyun Sword) is directing the anime at Project No.9, and Tatsuya Takahashi (The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky) is in charge of series composition.
The story centers on Hideki Nishimura, a young man who confessed to a person he thought was a girl online, only for that person to turn out to be a boy. He keeps this "black history" secret and swears to never to trust a "girl" online again. However, one day a girl online confesses to him, and it turns out she's actually a beautiful girl named Ako Tamaki. Ako cannot tell the difference between the online world and reality, and she is a loner who has trouble communicating. Hideki and his friends from his guild decide to work together to "correct" her.
Kineko and Hisasi launched the series in 2013, and Kadokawa published the eighth light novel volume last August. Kazui Ishigami is drawing a manga adaptation in Dengeki G's Comicmagazine, and Kadokawa released the second compiled volume last October.
Hisasi also created the Fighter character design for the Bikini Warriors television anime series, and he drew the Cute Devil Girlfriend adult manga that Digital Manga Inc.'s Project-H imprint published in North America.
