The Guinness Book of World Records awarded Jorge Luis Vásquez Flores of Peru with a certificate recognizing him as the owner of the world's largest Saint Seiya memorabilia collection last month.
Vásquez began collecting items related to his favorite television anime over 20 years ago and has amassed a collection of 6,688 items from action figures to magnets.
Vásquez's collection is nearly twice that of the previous record-holder, Ecatzin Bayardi Rosas of Mexico. Rosas was awarded the title in October, in turn replacing Vásquez, whose collection was only 1,792 items in 2014.
Vásquez works as a lawyer in Peru and is also the founder of the country's largest Saint Seiya fan club, "Athena no Seintos." His collection was featured in exhibitions and events in the region.
