Time Window Studio is hoping to garner financial favor to the tune of US$10,000 for its film Embers, a fan film based on SNK's fighting game franchise Fatal Fury. The campaign notes that the film will be a live-action version of the Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle anime TV special. The project does not appear to be endorsed by SNK.
The project has a total of five to eight minutes shot with green screen according to the Kickstarter campaign site. The staff mentions editing, adding visual effects, color correction, audio mixing, and fees for film festival and comic related events as costs. A second goal of US$50,000 is also mentioned but without further details of what the additional funds would cover.
Cast members include Jeff Hopkins, Michael Reed McCormack, Amber Tomlinson, Gym Bellamy, Stan Yu, Jean Harrison, Cherry Tse, and Mekael Turner. Seattle-based freelance director Jason Lao is helming the project and producing with Morgan Dusatko.
Campaign rewards so far include coasters, t-shirts, hugging pillows, posters, costumes, and tickets to Hong Kong and Japan to have dinner with Mai, Bob and Athena.
A British Company successfully raised £29,895 to fund a Princess Mononoke fan film sequel that is currently in post-production. The Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist live-action series initially sought backing on Kickstarter, however it was created through official channels and eventually licensed by Funimation.
