Jeremy Inman, Justin Pate also voice characters in dub premiering Wednesday, 8:00 p.m. EST
North American anime distributor FUNimation Entertainmen tposted the English dub cast for its broadcast dub of the Dagashi Kashi television anime on Tuesday. Funimation will stream the dubbed first episode on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. EST.
The dub cast, under director Kyle Phillips, ADR directors Jeremy Woods and Domonique French, and lead writer Jamie Marchi, includes:
- Todd Haberkorn as Kokonotsu Shikada
- Tabitha Ray as Hotaru Shidare
- Jeremy Inman as Yo Shikada
- Sara Ragsdale as Saya Endo
- Justin Pate as To Endo
Funimation describes the show:
Kokonotsu “Coconuts” Shikada dreams of becoming a famous manga artist. The only problem—he's terrible. His real talent is selling the complex and delicious snacks in his father's “dagashi” shop. He never thought much about the family business until the trendy, eccentric Hotaru showed up. As a lover of “dagashi,” she can't let his talent go to waste and decides she won't stop 'til she's sold him on sweets.
The series premiered on January 7. Funimation is also streaming the series with subtitles as it airs in Japan.
The series is based on Kotoyama's manga of the same name. Shigehito Takayanagi (Kanamemo,The World God Only Knows, Tokyo ESP) is directing the series at the anime studio feel., and is also supervising the series scripts alongside Yasuko Kamo (Galaxy Angel A, Kanamemo, Tokyo ESP). The scriptwriters are Kamo, Tatsuhiko Urahata, and Michiko Yokote. Kanetoshi Kamimoto(Burst Angel, Taishō Baseball Girls., Mushi-Uta) is designing the characters. Satoshi Motoyama is directing the sound, and Pony Canyon is producing the music. The 19-year-old singer Michi is performing the opening theme song "Checkmate!?"
