Company to also publish Winged Cloud's Sakura Dungeon OEL game
Sekai Project announced at its panel at the Animation on Display (AOD) event on Saturday that it has licensed Favorite's Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish Upon a Shooting Star and calme's KARAKARAPC games. The company also revealed that it will publish original English visual novel developer Winged Cloud's Sakura Dungeon game.
Sekai Project will release an all-ages version of Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish Upon a Shooting Staron Steam, although the company has not yet announced a release time frame. The romantic visual novel will include branching plotlines and multiple endings.
Sekai Project describes the visual novel as follows:
After their mother passes away, Kogasaka You and his younger sister, Chinami pack up and move out of the city back to their hometown of Hibarigasaki to live with their aunt Shino. Before making the move to the city, You spent almost every single day after school playing with a girl at the town observatory lookout; she was You's first true friend. And when she learns of You's upcoming relocation to the city she becomes very upset…so much so that she makes him promise to her that one-day he must return to Hibarigasaki to marry her. And with a final departure she kisses You on the forehead.
Years later, upon returning to Hibarigasaki, You comes across a now abandoned, fenced-off observatory lookout. It is at this lookout where he encounters a mysterious scythe-wielding girl named Mare who looks strangely like his childhood friend from years past. But as You's life back in his hometown progresses, he is able to makes new friends both in the astronomy club at school and while working at a local restaurant, all while still attempting to seek out his childhood friend. Intrigued, he continues to visit with this mysterious girl at the lookout, but who is she really, and will he ever be to find his childhood friend and make good on his promise?
Sekai Project will release an all-ages version of the KARAKARA adult visual novel on Steam for US$9.99, and Denpasoft will sell an 18+ version for the same price. Both versions will arrive on June 27. The Japanese version of the game (which will be 18+) will arrive in late July for 1,800 yen (about US$15.90) in DVD format.
Sekai Project also launched an Indiegogo campaign for KARAKARA on Saturday. Rewards include digital and physical copies of the visual novel, the original soundtrack, voice drama CDs, a collector's edition, a printed shikishi board, an art book, a wall scroll, a body pillow, autographs from the voice actresses of the game's two main characters, a hand-drawn illustration by character designer and illustrator p19, and a custom patch with the visual novel's voice actresses speaking the player's name, among others.
Nachi Kio (Yumiko's route in The Fruit of Grisaia, AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue) is writing the script for KARAKARA, and p19 (Himegitsune no Servant, Skyride!) is providing the illustrations. Jun Ōkubo is composing the music for the game, and Luna is performing its theme song "Rakuen." Jun Shiihara is directing the game.
Sekai Project describes KARAKARA as follows:
KARAKARA. It is the sound of aridity. It is the sound of dry asphalt and sandy winds. It is the sound of relentless sunshine, as well as the sound of a withering race.
The "Age of Dusk." It is a time of senescence for the human species, during which hybrids known as the "Others"—those who are human, yet not—exist in great numbers. On the windswept barrens of a land without moisture, a small gathering of people make their living in a world they no longer know. Down a stretch of highway and far from the heart of the town are two such people who run a small diner. To them, the circumstances that reshaped their world is of far less concern than the number of lunch boxes they can load into their delivery vehicle. After all, leaving customers hungry is not good for business, and business keeps them fed. Day after day, they occupy themselves with the endless work of their store. However, the comfortable monotony of their daily lives is turned on its head when they discover a large suitcase by the roadside on their way home from deliveries. Lying on the suitcase, unmoving, is a young girl with pink hair...Though parched, they keep each other company, and while hollow, they fill each other's voids. So shall they live on this land so arid.
Sakura Dungeon is first-person dungeon-crawling RPG, and Sekai Project describes it as follows: "In this story players will assume the role of an ancient fox spirit who awakens after several hundred years of deep sleep to find that possession of her lovingly made dungeon has been taken from her!" The company has not yet revealed a release time frame for the game.
